NOVEMBER 20 is a Staff Compensation Day.NOVEMBER 20-24: Thanksgiving Break (no school) NOVEMBER 10: Staff Professional Development (no school for students) During the course of the school year, staff will work two parent-teacher conference nights.OCTOBER 9: Staff Compensation Day (no school for staff or students) Staff PD days allow staff to work collaboratively on things such as curriculum, student data and professional development.SEPTEMBER 22: Staff Professional Development (no school for students) Due to recent changes in state law which require school districts to begin class no earlier than 14 days before Labor Day, August 21st is the earliest the 2023-2024 school year can begin.The calendar captures many of the priorities staff have shared in recent years, including: additional PD days providing an extended winter break providing a full week for spring break and ending school earlier (pending weather make-up days).The calendar includes no school on Friday, May 17th or 24th due to the state track meet hosted at Jefferson City High School, which brings in millions of dollars in economic impact to our community.The calendar includes a staff work day on Tuesday, January 2nd to provide staff a day to come back after break and get caught up/prepared to begin the second semester - students will return on Wednesday, January 3rd.The calendar includes a full week already built in for Thanksgiving break.The calendar includes an earned day off for staff on October 9th, November 20th, and March 29th to compensate for time spent working parent-teacher conferences.We have received feedback from staff that full days are more conducive to effective PD and are preferable to the shortened days for early releases The calendar replaces the regular 2-HR early releases for professional development with two additional full days for professional development instead (four total). ![]()
